Introducing This Week in iRacing, a new weekly post which details all you need to know about what is going on in the world of iRacing!

From official eSports to some of the top community-driven events, and everything in between, here’s what you should know for Week 5 of 2023 Season 4 (October 17-23).

Official iRacing eSports

While the newly announced IMSA Esports Global Championship and the World of Outlaws Thrustmaster Sprint Car Series not due until November, there are still plenty of official iRacing eSports to indulge in this week. eNASCAR fans will be excited for a Tuesday two-fer while the open-wheel racing fans have a street course event to look forward to on Thursday. There is also the World of Outlaws Qualifier to keep an eye out for on Monday night.

iRACING WORLD OF OUTLAWS SPRINT CAR QUALIFYING SERIES

First up on Monday night (October 16) is the fourth round of the iRacing World of Outlaws Sprint Car Qualifying Series, taking place at Lincoln Speedway.

The Top 20 points finishers who aren’t already qualified, have an A Class dirt oval license, and are in good standing with iRacing will be considered for a Pro/WC license and entry into the iRacing World of Outlaws Thrustmaster Sprint Car Series which begins on November 13.

eNASCAR DOUBLEHEADER – COLLEGE AND CONTENDER

There’s a double dose of eNASCAR happening on Tuesday night (October 17) as both the eNASCAR College iRacing Series powered by NACE Starleague and the eNASCAR Contender iRacing Series are set to go head-to-head, live on both NASCAR and iRacing’s social media channels.

The main show will be the College Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway. 40 of the top-ranked collegiate sim racers have qualified in for 90 laps around the 1.5-mile oval in Concord, NC. Drivers such as the 2023 eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series Champion Steven Wilson will be in the field, fighting against last semester’s dominant force in Logan Clampitt.

A month ago, the first race of the 2023-24 academic year took place at Daytona Int’l Speedway and saw Daniel Faulkingham defeat Anthony Burroughs in a photo finish.

Neither driver will be in attendance, however, as they will both be fighting for a spot on the 2024 eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series roster, competing in Contender, happening at the same time, at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Last week, it was Kaden Honeycutt who was dominant at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the opening round of the season.

GRAND PRIX TURN RACING iRACING SERIES

With half of the 2023 Grand Prix Turn Racing iRacing Series in the rear-view, there is finally some definition on who to watch out for in the fight for the championship. Coming into the season, it was believed that it would be an Apex Racing Team versus Altus Esports championship, but neither team has had any of their drivers fully find momentum so far.

Instead, Poland’s Przemyslaw Marek Lemanek for Drago Racing is in full stride following a victory at Silverstone Circuit two weeks ago and a runner-up result last week at Circuit Zandvoort. It was one from the Altus camp, namely the VRS stables in Edoardo Leo, taking control and his first career victory at the newly-rescanned and updated Zandvoort.

This week, the series takes on street course racing for the first time as the 26 top-rated open-wheel iRacers are set to compete at Detroit Belle Isle on Thursday (October 19) for the sixth race of the 2023 season.
