Welcome back to This Week in iRacing, our weekly post that details all you need to know about what is going on in the world of iRacing!

As always, This Week includes topics ranging from official eSports to some of the top community-driven events, and everything in between.

Here’s what to expect from 2024 Season 3, Week 6, from July 16th to July 22nd, 2024.

For the Members: iRacing Official Series Highlights

Every week, iRacing offers daily, even hourly racing that members can get into, based on where their license level is at. There are also some special series that run at specific times that anyone can jump into, with the right credentials, that offer a more meaningful sim racing experience. 

Here are a few of the highlighted series taking place this week.

4TH ANNUAL iRACING MS CHARITY RACE BENEFITTING THE NATIONAL MS SOCIETY – iRACING SPECIAL EVENT!

This year’s iRacing MS Charity Event is a 2 hour 24 minute charity team racing event benefiting the National MS Society at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. A multi-class event with a special broadcast scheduled on Wednesday night, a host of GT3 cars, including the Audi R8 LMS EVO II GT3, MW M4 GT3, Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, Ferrari 296 GT3, Ford Mustang GT3, Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO, McLaren MP4-12C GT3, Mercedes-AMG GT3 2020, and Porsche 911 GT3 R (992), will share the track with our three Street Stock models, the Casino M2, Eagle T3, and original Panther C1.

iRACING 2024 FALKEN TYRE 24 HOURS OF SPA – iRACING SPECIAL EVENT!

The next regularly-scheduled special event for the 2024 calendar is the return of the iRacing Spa 24, this year presented by Falken Tyre. This iRacing special event is held in virtual Belgium and will feature a single GT3 class with endurance-style team racing for a 24-hour timeframe around Spa-Francorchamps.

This weekend, from July 19th to July 21st, there will be four chances to participate in the event. The GT3 cars available to choose from include the Audi R8 LMS EVO II GT3, BMW M4 GT, Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, Ferrari 296 GT3, Ford Mustang GT3, Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO, McLaren MP4-12C GT3, Mercedes-AMG GT3 2020, and Porsche 911 GT3 R (992).

RACE SCHEDULE: Friday, 22:00 GMT; Saturday, 07:00 GMT, 12:00 GMT, and 16:00 GMT

NASCAR iRACING SERIES – SPECIAL EVENT! BRICKYARD 400

Back in 2024, the NASCAR iRacing Series (Open Setup and Fixed Setup) follows the NASCAR Cup Series schedule for a 36-week racing season. Week 22 is a special week, featuring a full length race set to take place at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The 160-lap event utilizes the NASCAR Next Gen Stock Cars from Chevrolet, Ford and Toyota.

The races this week are scheduled for:

Fixed Schedule: Wednesday, 21:00 GMT; Friday, 01:00 GMT; Saturday, 10:00 and 16:00 GMT; Monday, 01:00 GMT
Open Schedule: Thursday, 01:00 and 19:00 GMT; Saturday, 01:00 GMT; Sunday, 14:00 GMT

INDYCAR iRACING SERIES

With the return of INDYCAR, the INDYCAR iRacing Series (Open Setup) predominantly follows the real world INDYCAR schedule. It will have full length races on road courses while utilizing amended race distances for the ovals during the 16-week racing season.

The series returns for it’s 12th week of competition, this week back on the road with racing from Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, utilizing the Dallara IR-18 for 65 laps of competition.

Week 12 Schedule: Thursday, 01:00 GMT; Friday, 20:00 GMT, Saturday, 18:00 GMT; Sunday, 02:00 GMT

FIA F4 ESPORTS REGIONAL TOUR

The FIA F4 Esports Regional Tour takes on another big change for 2024 Season 3Fixed Setups! This time around, drivers will be able to qualify for the FIA F4 eSports Global Championship series, due in September, by running competitively in this series. At the end of the season, the top 10 eligible drivers in championship standings across each of the Regional Tour series will be invited to compete in the Global Championship. In order to be eligible for an invitation to the Global Championship, drivers must reside within the respective region for which they qualify, ensuring a truly global championship field.

Week 6 Schedule: 

  • Americas (Every ODD hour, :15 after): WeatherTech Raceway at Laguna Seca – Full Course
  • Asia-Pacific (Every EVEN hour, :45 after): Sandown International Motor Raceway
  • Europe (Every EVEN hour, :15 after): Sachsenring

GLOBAL ENDURANCE CONSPIT TOUR

Once again, in 2024 Season 3, the Global Endurance CONSPIT Tour will see all six of their scheduled races (even weeks during Season 3) swap over to 24 hour races. While not official iRacing Special Events, these endurance races feature multi-class team racing, with LMDh/GTP (BMW M Hybrid V8, Cadillac V-Series.R GTP, Acura ARX-06 GTP, Porsche 963 GTP), GT3 (BMW M4 GT3, Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO, Mercedes-AMG GT3 2020, Porsche 911 GT3 R (992), Ferrari 296 GT3, Audi R8 LMS EVO II GT3, Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, Ford Mustang GT3) and the LMP2 class featuring the Dallara P217.

Week 3 Track: Autódromo José Carlos Pace – Grand Prix
Schedule
: Saturday, 07:00 GMT and 18:00 GMT; Sunday, 14:00 GMT

RING MEISTER / DRAFT MASTER COMBINATIONS

Two of the more unique daily racing series added in recent seasons are the Ring Meister Ricmotech Series and the Draft Master SIMAGIC Series, where the cars change every week as opposed to the tracks. This season, the setups are fixed in both series, which means it’s all about jumping in and racing the combination at hand.

The Ring Meister Ricmotech Series (Races on every odd 2 hours | Qualifying every even 2 hours at :30) takes place at the Nürburgring Nordschleife – Industriefahrten and cycles through mostly road-type racing vehicles every week.

As for Draft Master (every hour), there are three tracks—Current Daytona International Speedway, Talladega Superspeedway, and 2008 Daytona, replacing iRacing Superspeedway as of 2024 Season 3—and four NASCAR vehicles—the 2009 Impala COT, Craftsman Trucks, 1987 Cup cars and the current-day Next Gen—that each track will cycle through. This series heads to Talladega for the middle four weeks of 2024 Season 3.

  • Ring Meister: Renault Clio at Nürburgring Nordschleife – Industriefahrten
  • Draft Master: NASCAR Trucks at Talladega Superspeedway

RAIN MASTER

Announced in Week 5 of 2024 Season 2, Rain Master is the latest Special Series on iRacing. Those looking for some fixed setup wet weather racing can jump into the Ferrari 296 GT3 at 12 different road courses around the world. The forecasts will include light rain throughout.

  • iRacing Nurburgring Endurance Championship
    • Next Race -> July 27th-28th at Nürburgring Combined – Gesamtstrecke VLN (2024 Season 3, Week 7)

    • Next Race -> November 8th-9th at Algarve International Circuit – Grand Prix (2024 Season 4, Week 9)

Official iRacing eSports

While this week is littered with iRacing Special Events, there are still some of our official eSports to watch out for. Mainly this week revolves around the Qualifying Series for Porsche and INDYCAR, but Skip Barber also kicks off this week. eNASCAR, meanwhile, will start the week off with racing from Indianapolis.

eNASCAR COCA-COLA iRACING SERIES

The thirteenth race of the 2024 eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series season takes the top-level series back to the iconic oval in Indiana, Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Indy returns for the first time since 2020, a race won by Keegan Leahy. This marks the 12th visit to the 2.5-mile venue.

INDIANAPOLIS RACE #13 – BROADCAST STARTS WITH COUNTDOWN TO GREEN AT 7:30 PM ET (11:30 GMT)

INDYCAR BUTTKICKER iRACING QUALIFYING SERIES

The INDYCAR ButtKicker iRacing Qualifying Series will reattempt to start its seven-week series at Long Beach on Thursday night, at 00:00 GMT. This race was originally scheduled last week, and the entire schedule has been shifted by one week as a result. This series is open to all iRacing members with an A-class Formula Car license.

SKIP BARBER FORMULA iRACING SERIES

The first race of the 2024 Skip Barber Formula iRacing Series takes place this Thursday night at the Circuit of the Americas. From July 12th to 14th, iRacing members could attempt to qualify into the race via Time Attack. The top 20 drivers on the Time Attack leaderboard will be invited to run each race.

PESC Qualifying Series

 

PORSCHE TAG HEUER ESPORTS SUPERCUP QUALIFYING SERIES

The second race of the 2024 Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup Qualifying Series season takes to Silverstone Circuit for 28 laps around the International layout. These races are scheduled for Saturdays at 18:45 GMT. A driver’s top five out of six scores will determine their eligibility to advance to the Contender Series, where they’ll compete against Supercup drivers from the 2024 season for a chance at a spot on the 2025 grid. Races will be open to all drivers with an A-class Sports Car license.

OFF THIS WEEK: eNASCAR QUALIFYING iRACING SERIES, ROUND 2

Last week’s event for the eNASCAR Qualifying iRacing Series, Round 2, originally scheduled at Pocono, has been cancelled. The next race in the series will be at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park on July 25th, at 8:00 pm ET (00:00 GMT).
