December 15th, 2011 by DavidP
For Week Six of the iRacing.com Street Stock Series, top sim racers traveled to the great north woods and the famed Oxford Plains Speedway. In total, 693 racers took to the track at least one time during the week at the 3/8th mile oval.
Weekly High Strength of Field
Last week’s high Strength of Field (SoF) race had a ranking of 2838, which paid 171 points to win. Taking home the honors of winning the top SoF race was Dylan Slepian (New York). Slepian started sixth and lead 14 laps in route to a two second victory over NASCAR iRacing.com Pro Series regular Brandon Buchberger (Illinois), who led 27 laps and collected 152 points for his effort. Chris Hughson (New York) finished the race in the third position, over five seconds off the lead and netted 133 points. ARCA driver Frank Kimmel II (Indiana) finished fourth in the event and earned 114 points for his efforts. Nicholas Ruggiere (Carolina) was the final driver to finish on the lead lap and received 95 points for his fifth place effort.
Weekly Standings
With his win in the SoF race — his only outing of the week — Slepian sat on top of the weekly points standings following seven days of online racing at Oxford Plains. Similarly, defending series champion Nick Ottinger (Carolina) continued his dominant ways by, once again, winning his only attempt of the week after starting on the pole and leading every lap. For his effort, Ottinger received 156 points on the week. Buchberger finished the week in the third position after taking second to Slepian in the SoF race, with 152 points. Brodie Kostecki (Australia/NZ) finished the week in the fourth position. Kostecki ran three races, with two wins and 44 laps lead and departed Maine with 145 points. Rounding-out the top five was Trey Jarrell (Virginias), who Jarrell won two of the three races he started for the week, and led 100 of 150 laps. Jarrell finished the week with 142 points.
Season Standings
After Week Six, nothing has changed at the top of the overall standings. Maxime Paquette (Eastern Canada) still holds down the first position in the season standings with 899 popints. Likewise, Greg Hooks (Virginias) remains second in the standings after increasing his total to 849 points. Third belongs to Michael Vaughn (West) with 807 points while Kevin Moody (New York) maintains the fourth position with 776 points. Fifth- placed Nathan Smith (Mid-South) rounds out the top five after Week Six with a total of 741 points.
