Shepherd Turns Irwindale Inner Inside Out
August 8th, 2016 by Chris Wolfson
The Lawrence Towing Outlaw Modified Series presented by the Bootleg Racing League rolled into California’s Irwindale Speedway for the Outlaw 100. The Outlaws’ simracers took on the facility’s tight confines of the “inner” oval which measures approximately 1/3 mile in length.
Ralph Conner (#9) started on the pole and led the Outlaws for the opening few laps before being passed by Chris Wolfson (#17) for the race lead. Wolfson led the race until lap 28, when JR Shepherd (#98) moved to the head of the pack. Shepherd proved to have the dominant car and carried the lead to the checkered flag with Donny Moore (#26) finishing second and Brian Neff (#60) finishing third.
“It was definitely a little bit of a workout there.” – JR Shepherd
“It was definitely a little bit of a workout there,” said Shepherd after the race.
