See what’s in store for one of the biggest iRacing updates yet! 2024 Season 1 brings one new car, three new tracks, a long-awaited oval racing refresh and much more!
NEW TRACK
Florence, Tuscany, Italy
After half a century’s worth of events on public roads were brought to an abrupt halt in 1970, Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello was constructed in 1973 and opened a year later to bring premier racing events back to the area. It quickly became host to major sports car events, lower-level open-wheel series, and grand prix motorcycle racing, for which it has hosted the Italian motorcycle Grand Prix for the past 30 years. In the COVID-19 impacted 2020 World Driver’s Championship, it hosted the series for the first time with the Tuscan Grand Prix.
Mugello features two layouts: its 3.259-mile, 15-turn Grand Prix layout, and a 1.4-mile Short configuration. Both start with its lengthy front straightaway and go into the 180-degree San Donato right-hander before heading into Luco and Poggio Secco. The track has been owned by Scuderia Ferrari since 1988, which uses it for both testing and the Ferrari Challenge Finali Mondiali; the Tuscan Grand Prix in 2020 marked its 1000th Grand Prix event.
NEW TRACK
Slinger, Wisconsin USA
Known as the “World’s Fastest Quarter Mile Oval,” Slinger, Wisconsin’s Slinger Speedway is the quintessential bullring short track. Opened in 1948, its defining characteristic is its high-banked corners, which reach an imposing 33 degrees on each end. That steep banking allows racers to post blazing fast laps, including Jeff Bloom’s 9.908-second time in 2010-the first quarter-mile oval lap record in history to break the 10-second barrier.
Formerly a flat, clay track, Slinger was reconfigured for the 1974 season into its current paved and high-banked state. Its most famous race each year is the Slinger Nationals, a 200-mile Super Late Model race that has been won by some of the biggest names in short track racing and NASCAR alike; former Cup Series champion Matt Kenseth holds the record with eight wins between 1994 and 2019. Slinger also has a paved X running through its center to host Figure 8 events.

iRacing’s latest new series concept comes to life for 2024 Season 1 with the introduction of the iRacing Weekly Challenge. If you’re into all forms of road racing, this is the series for you—it’s 12 weeks of different car and track combinations, with no repeats on either, for a season-long championship.
New Damage model comes to 16 new vehicles including the Super Late Model, Lucas Oil Off Road Trucks, & HPD ARX-01c, which returns to the track in the Thrustmaster Proto/GT Challenge starting in 2024 Season 1!
iRacing is pioneering new 3D curb technology at Mugello and Okayama, which should provide drivers with the most realistic track-edge experience to date – every curb bump of any type and size is now fully modeled for tire interaction.
Asphalt Oval Refresh is an ongoing project with the aim to improve the overall experience and realism of asphalt oval racing. This release of Phase 1 includes improvements to the surface grip levels as it relates to surface temperature. This should provide a more dynamic experience overall with factors such as weather, car count, and where cars are running on the track.
Mother Nature has sprouted with the 3D Foliage System at three additional beloved tracks and the system has been further optimized for look and feel.
