iRacing World of Outlaws ButtKicker Late Model Series Race Preview: Port Royal
July 28th, 2023 by Chris Leone
Round four of the 2023 iRacing World of Outlaws ButtKicker Late Model Series sends drivers north to Port Royal Speedway in the battle for this year’s $25,000 championship purse. As always, Monday’s action can be seen live starting at 9PM ET on DirtVision and at twitch.tv/iracing.
Last Race: Evan Seay may still be leading the points, but it was his teammate Blake Matjoulis who won the battle against the defending series champion for the second week in a row last week at Cedar Lake Speedway. While Seay qualified on pole and won the first heat, Matjoulis took the second heat and jumped out to an immediate lead that he’d never give up over the 50-lap feature.
Last Year: Port Royal was still the newest dirt track on the iRacing service last year, having been released in June 2022 as part of the 2022 Season 3 build. As a result, it wasn’t a part of last year’s campaign, making this the series’ inaugural visit to the track.
Track Facts: Opened in 1938, Pennsylvania’s Port Royal Speedway is a half-mile oval known as “The Speed Palace.” The track boasts a full program of local and National races throughout the year, including visits from both World of Outlaws Sprint Car and Late Model stars. The latter group visits the track in May for the Speed Palace Showdown, a $15,000-to-win battle.
Next Race: Following Port Royal, the iRacing World of Outlaws ButtKicker Late Model Series heads to Knoxville Raceway for its fifth round of the season on Monday, August 7. One of the most legendary dirt tracks in the world, Knoxville marks the halfway point of the season; Seay scored his third win of the season here last year.
