iRacing World of Outlaws ButtKicker Late Model Series Race Preview: Charlotte
October 3rd, 2022 by Chris Leone
The iRacing World of Outlaws ButtKicker Late Model Series season ends tonight with a visit to The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway, crowning a champion and finalizing who gets what share of the $25,000 series purse. As always, the action can be seen live at 9PM ET on twitch.tv/iracing and DirtVision.
Last Race: For the fifth time in nine races, Evan Seay took the checkered flag last Monday as the series took on its penultimate event of the season at Volusia Speedway Park. The victory was far from straightforward, though, as Seay and Kendal Tucker did plenty of full-contact battle late in the race. After Tucker unsettled Seay with contact from a slider on the final lap, Seay slammed into Tucker in the final corner, regaining the lead and winning by just .006 seconds over Blake Matjoulis, while Tucker landed on his roof and failed to cross the line.
As a result of the incident, Seay will be held out of the Charlotte finale, but has still mathematically clinched the championship thanks to an 83-point lead coming out of the event. Matjoulis is his closest competitor, but can only score a maximum of 78 points if he wins both his heat and the 50-lap feature. Tucker remains third in points despite the Volusia DNF.
Track Info: Opened in 2000, The Dirt Track at Charlotte was built across the street from Charlotte Motor Speedway as an expansion of the venerable racetrack’s facilities. The Dirt Track has enabled Charlotte to add everything from dirt racing to monster trucks to the area’s annual calendar, but none of its events are bigger than the World of Outlaws World Finals each November. The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series, CASE Construction Late Model Series, and Super DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds each crown their champions across the four-day event.
