On Thursday night, the INDYCAR ButtKicker iRacing Pro Series continues its inaugural 2024 season with the second race of the 2024 season at the Long Beach Street Circuit.

This next challenge for the top-33 INDYCAR competitors will be a 40-lap feature at the only street circuit on the calendar, the top-split race won by Luke McKeown in the Qualifying Series earlier this year.

Each race will be broadcast live at 8:00 p.m. ET on Thursday nights via iRacing social channels and the NTT INDYCAR SERIES YouTube channel and website.

Last Race:

At the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course a week ago, Team Redline’s Edoardo Leo managed to capture the win after executing the perfect strategy in the 37-lap event. The race started with Leo on the pole, but Apex Racing Team’s Peter Berryman, on the alternate tire strategy, quickly took the lead. Leo maintained the gap for when the tires swapped, where the primary tires were faster, and set said from there. Leo led a Team Redline 1-2-3-4-5 finish at the end, with Berryman falling back to finish ninth.

Track Facts:

Long Beach, California hosts the longest-running active street race in America, having played host to the first Long Beach Grand Prix in 1975. It took became the United States Grand Prix West in 1976 and held that until 1983, switching to its current US-based series alignment the next year. The layout saw a handful of changes in its first few years, but has held the same since 2000, marked by a roundabout around a fountain and a challenging hairpin before the final straightaway. The full lap measures 1.968 miles, with a total of 11 turns.

About the Series:

The inaugural INDYCAR ButtKicker iRacing Pro Series season will feature a purse of $50,000 with the champion taking home $20,000 at season’s end. The 10 races scheduled include a fair mix of road courses and ovals that are often found on the real-world INDYCAR schedule. Points will now be scored based on a similar system that the real-world series uses, with 50 points going to the winner and bonus points for laps led, most laps led, and the pole award.

Next Up:

After Long Beach, the series will take on its first oval race of the season, with a 147-lap event scheduled at the 7/8-mile course. Iowa is one of the four tracks on this season’s schedule that these 33 drivers did not take on in the Qualifying Series over the last couple of months. The final three races on the calendar will also be new challenges, including whichever race wins the Race #9 poll, which runs until noon ET.
