iRacing and the Dale Jr. Foundation are pleased to announce that the inaugural Driven to Give 400 presented by High Rock Vodka raised $71,000 in charitable donations. The unique team-based sim racing event, which featured Mini Stocks competing for 400 laps on the virtual Iowa Speedway, saw hundreds of teams and thousands of drivers compete over six time slots to cap off iRacing’s busy January Special Event calendar.

In iRacing Special Events like the Driven to Give 400, teams of sim racers from around the world can compete with virtual versions of their favorite cars and tracks. While dozens of events on the iRacing Special Event calendar are based on real-world racing’s biggest events, the Driven to Give 400 was dreamt up by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and iRacing to simulate an oval endurance race with road racing-style driver swaps, all to raise money for charity.

The action kicked off with a broadcast race on Wednesday night, where dozens of four-driver teams comprised of real-world racers, top sim racers, and even iRacing staff competed for charity. This event featured purchasable penalties such as black flags and cautions, with all purchases and team entry fees serving as donations towards the final total.

When all was said and done, the Hark Motorsports team won the broadcast race by just .502 seconds over Lucky Ducks Motorsports. Earnhardt Jr.’s JR Motorsports squad finished 13th, the final car on the lead lap, while 2 Fast 2 Furious, which paired former eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series champion Casey Kirwan with iRacing’s Steve Myers, Kevin Bobbitt, and Nim Cross, finished 25th, four laps down—in no small part thanks to a series of black flags on Cross purchased by reigning Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen.

The Dale Jr. Foundation is a charity dedicated to giving underprivileged individuals, with a focus on youth, the resources to improve their confidence and education, and the opportunity to achieve extraordinary goals.
