eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series Race Preview: Maconi Setup Shop 150 at Pocono

The eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series regular season is set to conclude at Pocono Raceway on Tuesday night with the Maconi Setup Shop 150, the 14th race of the 2024 season. The 40 top-ranked eNASCAR drivers will take on the 2.5-mile venue in Pennsylvania, known to many as The Tricky Triangle. Seven spots are reserved in the 2024 eNASCAR Playoffs, and three are still to be decided following the scheduled 60 laps of racing.

Last Race: It was a near walk-off performance for Joe Gibbs Racing’s Daniel Faulkingham two weeks ago in the series’ return to Indianapolis. After drivers split strategies late in the going, Faulkingham stayed out with just two drivers ahead of him. He passed Kollin Keister on the restart, then got by Garrett Lowe on the backstretch. In the closing laps, Faulkingham held off a late charge from the potent threat that is always Steven Wilson to score his first career win and cement his place in the 2024 eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series playoffs.

Last Year: While Indy was nearly a walk-off for Faulkingham as he earned a playoff berth late in the regular season, last season’s Pocono festivities were just that for 23XI’s Michael Guest. With Nick Ottinger entering the final corner in the preferred lane, Guest held the outside with Ottinger’s teammate, Matt Bussa, behind him, and Malik Ray behind Guest in fourth. Bussa punted Ottinger mid-corner, hoping for a miracle, but as Ottinger slid back into control, it was Guest who won for the first time in his career, taking one of the final two spots in the title fight that season.

Track Facts: Known as “The Tricky Triangle,” Long Pond, Pennsylvania’s Pocono Raceway is one of the longest ovals on the NASCAR schedule at 2.5-miles in length. Designed by open-wheel racing legend Rodger Ward, it borrows its 14-degree Turn 1 design from the former Trenton Speedway, Turn 2 from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and Turn 3 from the Milwaukee Mile. Pocono first welcomed the NASCAR Cup Series in the 1970s and continues on as a staple of the NASCAR calendar in all three of their top divisions.

Next Race: After Pocono, the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series playoffs begin at Michigan International Speedway on Tuesday, August 13th at 8:00 p.m. ET. Qualified playoff drivers will have three shots to win their way into the Championship 4, but at least one driver will get there on points. Last season, it was Garrett Lowe who won at Michigan to lock his place in the 2023 title fight.
