From one short track to another: the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series picks up its 2020 season tonight with its fifth round of the season at Richmond Raceway. Aside from being a home race for the track’s own team, featuring defending series champion Zack Novak and Jimmy Mullis, Richmond is expected to put on some of the most exciting racing of the season after a dramatic round at Bristol Motor Speedway two weeks ago.

Ryan Luza’s streak of winning two of the first four races in the eNCiS season continued last time out, as the Williams Esports driver returned to victory lane at Bristol after coming off his first win of the year at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The win allowed him to jump six spots to fourth in series standings, where he sits in striking distance of 2019 runner-up Keegan Leahy for second and sophomore Garrett Lowe for third. And in case you were looking for something to slow Luza’s momentum, you might not find it here—he’s never finished worse than third here, and is the defending Richmond winner.

But the field is still chasing Bobby Zalenski, whose three top-five finishes have him 13 points clear of Leahy for the overall lead. But with Leahy coming home third here last year and Zalenski struggling to 19th place, the Californian will need to make a dramatic improvement on last year’s results to preserve that advantage.

On the other side of the coin, two of last year’s top-five finishers at Richmond could find just the spark they’re looking for to save their seasons tonight. Last year’s regular season champion and Richmond runner-up Blake Reynolds currently sits a disappointing 27th in the standings, 15 points below the top 20 cutoff to retain a series license at the end of the season. The situation is even more dire for Brian Schoenburg, whose 26 points have him last in the championship by nine points; a fourth-place run like he had here last year could make a dramatic difference in his
