Crawford Dominates Darlington

Week Two of the Nascar iRacing.com Class B Series (NiCBS) saw drivers travel to the “Lady in Black”, Darlington Raceway. Darlington is a 1.366 mile oval located in South Carolina and is known for hosting the famed Southern 500. During the week, 393 drivers attempted one race while 114 drivers turned at least one qualifying lap.
Week Two’s Strength of Field (SoF) race took place at 8:30pm EST on Friday night. The race had 27 drivers and an SoF of 4222. Nascar iRacing.com Pro Series driver Jared Crawford (Michigan) dominated the race, starting from the pole and leading all 100 laps while also turning the fastest lap of the race. Crawford received 270 points for his victory. Last season’s runner up Brad Mahar (New England) finished second to Crawford after started seventh. Mahar netted 259 points for his second place finish. Brenden Queen (Virginias) started 24th and finished third while Brian Macklin (Atlantic) started 11th and finished in the fourth position. For their finishes, they received 249 and 238 points respectively. Rounding out the Top Five was David Cater (Carolina). Cater started ninth and finished in the fifth position and received 228 points.
The Top Five in the Weekly standings for Week Two was the same as the Top Five in the week’s SoF race. Crawford finished the week in the first position after winning one of his two races and netting 270 points. Mahar finished second with 259 points after his runner up finish in the SoF race. Queen was third with 249 points after only running one race during the week. Macklin and Cater rounded out the Top Five with 238 and 228 points.
After two weeks, Mahar leads the point’s standings with 511 points. Mahar has run three races and has one Top Five. Devan Hall (Georgia) is second in the season points standings with three starts and one Top Five. Hall has 394 points, 117 points behind Mahar. Cater sits in the third position after making five starts in the first two weeks. Cater has two wins and three Top Five’s and has 391 points. Cody Vincent (Mid-South) and Zach A Hudson (Eastern Canada) round out the Top Five in the season standings. Vincent has five starts with two Top Ten’s and 381 points while Hudson has three starts with two Top Ten’s and 377 points.
Crawford finished the week with the fastest qualifying lap after turning a 28.151 second lap. Ian Hann (Mid-South) finished the week in the second position after turning a 28.213 second lap. Jason Karlavige (Pennsylvania) was third on the week with a 28.241 while Hall finished the week fourth with a 28.265 second lap. Rounded out the Top Five in qualifying was Eric Brundles (Midwest) with a 28.279 second lap.
After Two weeks of the season the top contenders are already making their way to the top. Mahar looks to win the championship after coming up short last season while Crawford looks to dominate the season on his way to the championship.
