Cooper Webster maintains Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup points lead after wet Fuji Sprint victory
April 7th, 2025 by Justin Melillo
Diogo Pinto wins Feature Race in first wet weather PESC event
For the first time in Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup history, the track was wet for the entirety of the sixth round of the 2025 championship season at Fuji Speedway. With the iRacing Weather System on display on Saturday afternoon, the added challenge to an already intense series became keeping the car on track without sliding off or into other cars.
While the championship will be decided next week, Fuji played a crucial role in setting the stage. Jordan Caruso (Team Indian Racing Festival by APPL) won his second TAG Heuer Pole Award, but Cooper Webster (Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing) was able to get the advantage late in the Fuji Sprint Race.
The moment when everything changed! Cooper Webster takes advantage and scores the first Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup win of the day at Fuji in the rain!

While neither would be factors for the win in the Feature Race, won by Team Redline’s Diogo Pinto, they finished one position apart, allowing Webster to maintain his points lead and Caruso to have a shot at a second title next week in the final event on the 2025 schedule at Le Mans. Also with a shot, but just barely, is Caruso’s teammate, Mitchell deJong, 75 points back. deJong will likely need a perfect day in France to even have a shot.
PESC QUALIFYING:
A “perfect day” refers to the fact that 85 points are available every event in the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup, with 25 points up for grabs in the Sprint race and 50 in the Feature. The other 10 can be won by winning the TAG Heuer Pole Award, with points distributed through the top-five in qualifying.
As previously mentioned, Caruso took the top honors in qualifying, but Webster was able to keep the points bleed to a minimum in qualifying second. In third, deJong kept his title chances alive as well, while Sebastian Job (Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing) and Tristan Iglesias (Coanda Esports) rounded out the top-five.
2025 Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup Top 5 Qualifying results from Fuji Speedway were as follows:
- #12 Jordan Caruso, 1:40.814 seconds (10 points)
- #37 Cooper Webster, -0.037 (8 points)
- #24 Mitchell deJong, -0.052 (6 points)
- #1 Sebastian Job, -0.128 (4 points)
- #38 Tristan Iglesias, -0.133 (2 points)
PESC SPRINT RACE:
Qualifying took place on a dry Fuji Speedway, but that would be the last time these drivers would have a completely moisture-free racing surface for the remainder of the day. As the race transitioned into the Sprint, the virtual skies opened up, dampening the track as rain continued to fall while the lights went out on the grid.
Caruso led the blinded field behind into the opening hairpin, most everyone figuring out the situation and surviving for the time being. After the first few laps, a quartet of drivers had managed to pull away from the field, led by Caruso and deJong, rounded out by Webster and Job. On the sixth lap, everything changed as deJong slid into the first corner too deep, virtually hydroplaning off the circuit. Caruso was able to avoid contact, but it allowed for Webster to get alongside and into a preferred groove.
Into the chicane, Webster was able to clear and take the lead. Job was able to follow through. Now mired back in third and fourth, the two Team Indian Racing Festival by APPL drivers had another group of drivers to fend off, this pack led by Team Redline’s Gustavo Ariel. Again into Turn 1, the sends became more dicey. Ariel saw a chance at a podium and took it, taking Caruso and deJong three-wide. The trio all made contact, and deJong lost out the most, falling outside the top-10 as a result.
The battle for eighth, originally between Sam Kuitert (Team Redline) and Florian Lebigre (Verstappen.com Racing), was suddenly shifted up to a battle between Lebigre and Alejandro Sánchez in the closing laps. Sánchez couldn’t get there, allowing Lebigre to get the invert to the pole position for the Feature.
Up front, Webster, Job, and Ariel all ran single file until the end, allowing Webster to pick up another crucial 25 points towards his championship campaign. Caruso settled in to finish fourth. Down in 11th, deJong salvaged 10 points towards the championship, but his day was now set to be even tougher starting in 11th for the Feature after having solid speed early on.

PESC FEATURE RACE:
Onto the Feature, and the rain had finally stopped falling. With 18 laps on the board, a track set to dry out before the checkered flag, and a championship battle brewing in the middle of the top-10 starting spots, the potential for some crazy storylines was there.
Unfortunately, the track stayed wet enough and the wet tires stayed gripped enough that pitting for dry tires never became an option. Lebigre led the way early on, but on the seventh lap, Diogo Pinto took control and led the rest of the way, picking up his fifth career victory, and third career Feature Race win in dominant fashion.
Sebastian Job, a week removed from a nightmare day at Thruxton, rebounded to finish second for the second time on the day, making him the driver with the most points scored on the day. Unfortunately, his championship hopes are officially over, the margin too large to overcome with only one event remaining. Second place is still possible for Job, however, as the only driver out of his reach is his teammate, Webster.
Caruso brought it home in sixth while Webster wound up seventh. Webster collectively earned 61 points on the day, while Caruso only scored 59. That leaves the gap at 40 points between the two entering the finale next week at Circuit de la Sarthe. With two 11th place finishes, deJong goes from 50 points down to 75 points behind, but if the stars align, he could too have a chance at hoisting the title next week.

PESC ALL-STARS RECAP:
The All-Stars enjoyed a dry Fuji Speedway in the Porsche 911 GT3 R on Saturday preceding the wet and wild Supercup events. Ayhancan Guven was the only Factory Driver in the field this time around, but he surely made his presence known throughout the day.
Casey Kirwan scored the pole position, but Guven was able to get by around halfway. The two battled, but eventually it led to contact, sending Guven around and outside the top-five. This allowed a former All-Stars champion, Quirkitized, to move through and into the lead, holding off Pablo “The Pulpo” Lopez and Kirwan to claim his first win of the season.
Not to be left winless, Guven was able to charge to the front of the field fast in the inverted Feature. Taking the lead from Tony Kanaan after only a couple of laps, Guven built a lead that Kirwan couldn’t possibly overcome. Kirwan did manage to get to second, but Guven took his second win in as many weeks by a healthy margin.

Kirwan unofficially claims his third-straight Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup All-Stars title following the Fuji fight. The fight is on for second, where Pablo “The Pulpo” Lopez leads Stradi by 30 points entering the final races.
The final Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup and All-Stars event takes place at Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans in one weeks’ time. Coverage for the championship event will kick off on Saturday, April 12th at 18:00 GMT (2PM ET) with the Porsche All-Stars up first. After the All-Stars, the Supercup begins their second round at 19:00 GMT (3PM ET).
