The Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup took to the Tuscan region of Italy for the second round of the 2025 season. A new venue on the calendar, the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello hosted both the Supercup and All-Stars on Saturday, February 8th. Two more drivers were added to the winner’s list in the Supercup as two previous champions, Jordan Caruso (Team Indian Racing Festival by APPL) and Sebastian Job (Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing), scored wins apiece in the Sprint and Feature races, respectively.

As for the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup All-Stars, Pablo “Pulpo” Lopez was fastest in the Porsche 911 GT3 R this week, scoring the pole and win in the first race. After the full-field invert, it was Casey Kirwan who peddled through the chaos to take his second win of the season and extend his points lead.

Next week, both the Supercup and the All-Stars will make their return to the famed Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, the third stop on the 2025 schedule.

PESC QUALIFYING:

Up to 85 points are available every event in the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup, with 25 points up for grabs in the Sprint race and 50 in the Feature. The other 10 can be won by winning the TAG Heuer Pole Award, with points distributed through the top-five in qualifying.

This week, Alejandro Sánchez (StormForce Gaming) earned the max points along with the TAG Heuer Pole Award, but again it was close among the top two. Caruso was only 0.010-seconds slower, which allowed him a front row start but only eight extra points.

2025 Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup Top 5 Qualifying results from Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello were as follows:

  1. #47 Alejandro Sánchez, 1:49.074 seconds (10 points)
  2. #12 Jordan Caruso, -0.010 (8 points)
  3. #3 Kevin Nielsen, -0.192 (6 points)
  4. #1 Sebastian Job, -0.209 (4 points)
  5. #38 Tristan Iglesias, 0.219 (2 points)

PESC SPRINT RACE:

While the All-Star skies were clear and sunny, the heavy fog rolled in for the Supercup events. The track stayed dry, but visibility was low as the field launched off the starting line for the Sprint behind Sánchez. Only seven laps in length, moves were frantic as positions were a premium for both points and a starting spot in the Feature.

Sánchez was able to pull out to a decent lead, but stalking behind were Caruso and Job as the laps wound down. As the field came to two laps to go, it was go time for Caruso.

Down the frontstretch, the two leaders zigged and zagged across the pavement. Sánchez looked to have staved off the charge, but at the last second into the first corner, Caruso turned hard right and got alongside. The move was late, and Caruso did push up and into Sánchez as a result, but the pass was made and the lead was changed.

Behind the lead, moments before, the battle for eighth got heated as well. Elvis Rankin (Team Indian Racing Festival by APPL) was ahead of it, but ran into the back of the car in front of him and got sideways. At the same exact moment, Diogo Pinto (Team Redline) made a move to get around Luke McKeown (Apex Racing Team) for eighth. The Rankin and McKeown cars slid in synchronization as Pinto moved around them both, taking seventh instead. Oscar Py (Kubina Racing) was in the right spot at the right time, and wound up taking eighth and the transfer to the pole for the Feature.

Ahead for the lead, Caruso was able to pull away and score the victory, his first of the season and first for Team Indian Racing Festival by APPL. “I knew my race pace was strong,” Caruso said post-race. “I was sort of biding my time, making sure I didn’t make any mistakes. Once the opportunity was there, I went for it. I was really happy with the move into Turn 1. Still a lot of work to do in the Feature.”

PESC FEATURE RACE:

While Pinto was one spot further ahead by the end of the Sprint, he still had a front row start for the Feature and a really good chance at capitalizing for a win by the end of it. Sebastian Job had other plans.

Py led the field off the grid and led the opening lap, but it didn’t take long for Pinto to make his move into the lead. From there, Pinto extended the lead, nearly leading by two seconds as he completed the fourth lap of the 14-lap Feature. Even though he didn’t have anyone in reach of the draft, Pinto began weaving across the straight. At the same time, Job had caught Py and made the move before they entered Turn 1.

Job, who had an uncharacteristic start to the season last week at Daytona, was back in his usual form for Mugello. Pinto had solid pace, but Job was still able to catch him from outside the draft effect. Coming to five laps to go, Job was right on Pinto’s back bumper. The fight was on between the two former champions and pseudo-teammates.

Into Turn 1, Job got alongside. Pinto kept it tight, and the two ran alongside one another for a multitude of corners. They never touched once, and by the end of the lap, Job was out front. Pinto, not to be denied easily, attempted the same move on Job for the lead, but this time, Job cleared and the fight was over.

The battle allowed for Yohann Harth (Apex Racing Team) to catch up to them both, but in the final three-and-a-half laps, the order never changed up front, and it was Job scoring yet another victory to add to his incredible total of wins, now standing at 17 Feature wins and 31 overall.

“That was one of the most intense races I’ve had in a long time,” Job said post-race. “When you spend a whole lap side-by side, you’re just so knackered afterward, it feels like you don’t breathe the whole time. Especially when it’s your teammate. I’m very happy, and very grateful to Diogo for a great battle. There’s not many people you can race side-by-side with for a whole lap that closely without any contact. That was really awesome. I enjoyed that.”

PESC ALL-STARS RECAP:

The Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup All-Stars took on Mugello in the Porsche 911 GT3 R this week, allowing for the field to try a different discipline of racecar this time around.

Pablo “The Pulpo” Lopez was the fastest driver leading into the event, winning practice and the pole position for the first race. Lopez pulled away from the field, winning by multiple seconds over newcomer Pablo Vicente and former All-Stars champion, Quirkitized, who rounded out the podium.

After the invert, Tony Kanaan led the field to the green alongside Emree, but both would fall into the clutches of the pack. Borja Zazo took control, but eventually, Casey Kirwan made his way to the front and never looked back, scoring his second win of the season in four races.
