2024-25 eNASCAR College iRacing Series | Race Preview: Daytona
September 24th, 2024 by Justin Melillo
The eNASCAR College iRacing Series presented by Playfly College Esports kicks off its 2024-25 campaign with its first round on Tuesday night, returning to Daytona International Speedway to open the new season. 40 drivers qualified into the A-Main race through the official Time Attack, and will compete for their share of scholarship money and championship points at The World Center of Racing. The opening race will stream live on Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m. ET at eNASCAR.com/live and across all of iRacing’s social media channels.
About the Series: The eNASCAR College iRacing Series presented by Playfly College Esports gives college students from the United States and Canada the opportunity to compete for their share of $60,000 in scholarships. Using machines from the NASCAR Xfinity Series or NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, 40 drivers qualify for the event by registering here and posting their fastest lap times in a two-week Time Attack through the iRacing UI. With hundreds of colleges and universities represented in each Time Attack and a limitation on the amount of qualified drivers per school, drivers are competing not only against the greater iRacing community, but also their own classmates, for a spot on the prestigious grid.
Last Season: Daniel Faulkingham won out in the opening round at Daytona last season after a last lap drag race with Anthony Burroughs. Just after the white flag flew, the field combusted near the front. Only two drivers came away unscathed, those two being Faulkingham and Burroughs. The two battled side-by-side down the superstretch, and into the final corners. Faulkingham played it perfectly, and utilized the draft to get by at the line for the victory for the University of Maine at Machias.
Track Info: Known as “The World Center of Racing”, Daytona International Speedway has a deep history in many facets of American motorsport, from NASCAR and their annual Daytona 500 to IMSA and their 24-hour battle for the Rolex 24. This track also hosts Bike Week’s Daytona 200, Daytona Supercross, Daytona KartWeek between Christmas and New Year’s Day, and a host of driving school, club, and other events.
