This Week in iRacing: July 30-August 5, 2024

Welcome back to This Week in iRacing, our weekly post that details all you need to know about what is going on in the world of iRacing!

As always, This Week includes topics ranging from official eSports to some of the top community-driven events, and everything in between.

Here’s what to expect from 2024 Season 3, Week 8, from July 30th to August 5th, 2024.

For the Members: iRacing Official Series Highlights

Every week, iRacing offers daily, even hourly racing that members can get into, based on where their license level is at. There are also some special series that run at specific times that anyone can jump into, with the right credentials, that offer a more meaningful sim racing experience.

Here are a few of the highlighted series taking place this week.

iRACING MX-500 at MARTINSVILLE SPEEDWAY – iRACING SPECIAL EVENT!

The next special event on the 2024 calendar is the arrival of the Martinsville MX-500. Utilizing the Global Mazda MX-5 Cup car on the short paperclip oval of Martinsville Speedway, 500 laps are scheduled for iRacers to take part in. A version of this event will exist in the real-world next year as IMSA recently announced an event happening in 2025.

This weekend, from August 2nd to August 4th, there will be five chances to participate in the solo oval racing event.

RACE SCHEDULE: Friday, 22:00 GMT; Saturday, 07:00 GMT, 12:00 GMT, and 16:00 GMT; Sunday, 00:00 GMT

FIA F4 ESPORTS REGIONAL TOUR

The FIA F4 Esports Regional Tour takes on another big change for 2024 Season 3—Fixed Setups! This time around, drivers will be able to qualify for the FIA F4 eSports Global Championship series, due in September, by running competitively in this series. At the end of the season, the top 10 eligible drivers in championship standings across each of the Regional Tour series will be invited to compete in the Global Championship. In order to be eligible for an invitation to the Global Championship, drivers must reside within the respective region for which they qualify, ensuring a truly global championship field.

Week 8 Schedule:

Americas (Every ODD hour, :15 after): Road Atlanta – Full Course
Asia-Pacific (Every EVEN hour, :45 after): Fuji International Speedway – Grand Prix
Europe (Every EVEN hour, :15 after): Nürburgring Grand-Prix-Strecke – Grand Prix

GLOBAL ENDURANCE CONSPIT TOUR

Once again, in 2024 Season 3, the Global Endurance CONSPIT Tour will see all six of their scheduled races (even weeks during Season 3) swap over to 24 hour races. While not official iRacing Special Events, these endurance races feature multi-class team racing, with LMDh/GTP (BMW M Hybrid V8, Cadillac V-Series.R GTP, Acura ARX-06 GTP, Porsche 963 GTP), GT3 (BMW M4 GT3, Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO, Mercedes-AMG GT3 2020, Porsche 911 GT3 R (992), Ferrari 296 GT3, Audi R8 LMS EVO II GT3, Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, Ford Mustang GT3) and the LMP2 class featuring the Dallara P217.

Week 4 Track: Road America – Full Course
Schedule: Saturday, 07:00 GMT and 18:00 GMT; Sunday, 14:00 GMT

RING MEISTER / DRAFT MASTER COMBINATIONS

Two of the more unique daily racing series added in recent seasons are the Ring Meister Ricmotech Series and the Draft Master SIMAGIC Series, where the cars change every week as opposed to the tracks. This season, the setups are fixed in both series, which means it’s all about jumping in and racing the combination at hand.

The Ring Meister Ricmotech Series (Races on every odd 2 hours | Qualifying every even 2 hours at :30) takes place at the Nürburgring Nordschleife – Industriefahrten and cycles through mostly road-type racing vehicles every week.

As for Draft Master (every hour), there are three tracks—Current Daytona International Speedway, Talladega Superspeedway, and 2008 Daytona, replacing iRacing Superspeedway as of 2024 Season 3—and four NASCAR vehicles—the 2009 Impala COT, Craftsman Trucks, 1987 Cup cars and the current-day Next Gen—that each track will cycle through. This series heads to Talladega for the middle four weeks of 2024 Season 3.

Draft Master: NASCAR Cup Series Next Gen at Talladega Superspeedway

RAIN MASTER

Announced in Week 5 of 2024 Season 2, Rain Master is the latest Special Series on iRacing. Those looking for some fixed setup wet weather racing can jump into the Ferrari 296 GT3 at 12 different road courses around the world. The forecasts will include light rain throughout.

Official iRacing eSports

The eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series and the Skip Barber Formula iRacing Series return this week, while the INDYCAR ButtKicker iRacing Qualifying Series and the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup Qualifying Series also continue forward.

eNASCAR COCA-COLA iRACING SERIES

The 2024 eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series playoffs are to be set following the 14th race of the season, on Tuesday night at Pocono Raceway. Seven spots are reserved, and three are still to be decided entering. Last season, Michael Guest pulled off a walk-off win to claim his spot in the title hunt.

INDYCAR BUTTKICKER iRACING QUALIFYING SERIES

The INDYCAR ButtKicker iRacing Qualifying Series will continue its seven-week series with the third race of the season at the Full Course at Barber Motorsports Park on Thursday night, at 00:00 GMT. The second race of the season also saw nearly 200 drivers take on Indianapolis across six splits of competition. Brandon Traino won the top Strength of Field (SoF) split and sits second in the standings, only behind Luke McKeown after two weeks of racing thus far.

As a reminder, the entire schedule has been shifted by one week. This series is open to all iRacing members with an A-class Formula Car license.

PESC Qualifying Series

PORSCHE TAG HEUER ESPORTS SUPERCUP QUALIFYING SERIES

The fourth race of the 2024 Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup Qualifying Series season takes to the Classic layout at Watkins Glen this weekend for a 22-lap event. Last week, the familiar name of Joshua Rogers pulled off the victory in the Top Split SoF at the Red Bull Ring. Another familiar name to the series, Mitchell deJong, currently leads the way at the halfway point.

These races are scheduled for Saturdays at 18:45 GMT. A driver’s top five out of six scores will determine their eligibility to advance to the Contender Series, where they’ll compete against Supercup drivers from the 2024 season for a chance at a spot on the 2025 grid. Races will be open to all drivers with an A-class Sports Car license.

SKIP BARBER FORMULA iRACING SERIES

The second race of the 2024 Skip Barber Formula iRacing Series takes the top-20 qualified participants over to Virginia International Raceway’s Grand course on Thursday night. Victor Miranda and Kody Deith split victories at Circuit of the Americas in the first round of the competition.

From July 26th to July 28th, iRacing members could attempt to qualify into the race via Time Attack. The top 20 eligible drivers on the Time Attack leaderboard will be invited to run each race.

OFF THIS WEEK: eNASCAR QUALIFYING iRACING SERIES – ROUND 2

The eNASCAR Qualifying iRacing Series will return next week with the fourth race of the 2024 season at the Cup Layout of Watkins Glen International. The most recent races saw Agnel Philip and Christopher Hill share victories at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.

Only the Top 20 in the final standings will be guaranteed a chance at possible advancement into the next round of the eNASCAR ladder, the eNASCAR Contender iRacing Series, which will coincide with the conclusion of the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series later this year.
