iRacing World of Outlaws ButtKicker Late Model Series Race Preview: Weedsport
September 19th, 2022 by Chris Leone
The iRacing World of Outlaws ButtKicker Late Model Series season continues tonight with a trip to the northeast, taking on New York’s Weedsport Speedway. As always, the action can be seen live at 9PM ET on twitch.tv/iracing and DirtVision.
Last Race: Two events ago, Blake Matjoulis scored his third win of the season with a checkered flag on the Kokomo Speedway quarter-mile. Last week, it was his teammate, Evan Seay, who equaled the feat and extended his points lead with his own third win of the year at Knoxville Raceway. To do it, he’d have to navigate his way through a gaggle of equally matched front-runners, trading the lead with Dylan Wilson for a few laps before finally locking in the spot.
Kendal Tucker would lead the early stages of the race before Wilson took over the lead, but Seay would push up from fourth into second to pursue the lead. He and Wilson would trade the lead for multiple laps before making contact that allowed Tucker to climb back into the fight, but Tucker would throw an unsuccessful slider on Wilson that would slow both down and give Seay the gap he needed. As a result, Seay’s points lead grew to 62 points as the season continues to wind down.
Track Info: Weedsport Speedway is one of the most storied dirt tracks in the northeast, perhaps best known for hosting the Super DIRTcar Series multiple times a year and staging July’s Empire State Challenge for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Sprint Car Series. The track was built in the 1950s as a third-mile circuit for Stanley Dudzinski to practice driving his own racecar, but soon began hosting races and was expanded to a 3/8 mile layout in 1970. Alongside its storied racing history, Weedsport has also hosted concerts featuring some of the biggest names in rock music, ranging from The Beach Boys to Metallica.
World of Outlaws: Dirt Racing Pre-Orders Open: Pre-orders are open now for World of Outlaws: Dirt Racing, the official game of World of Outlaws coming to the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on September 27. Three-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car champion Sammy Swindell is available as a pre-order exclusive. The title builds upon Monster Games’ established dirt racing platform with the presence of iRacing assets on a console for the first time. For more information, visit www.worldofoutlawsgame.com.
Next Week: Following Weedsport, the iRacing World of Outlaws ButtKicker Late Model Series takes on the penultimate round of the 2022 season with a trip to Volusia Speedway Park. Volusia kicks off the season for both World of Outlaws Sprint Cars and Late Models each winter, with eight different drivers winning the nine races staged between the two divisions this January and February.
