Conti Crowned Champion, and NiCAS Welcomes New Car
January 25th, 2013 by In Racing News
As the NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series (NiCAS) wrapped up their trip to Motegi, Japan, the curtain had officially closed on 2012 Season Four. When the dust settled it was Michael Conti riding the wave of momentum from an outstanding NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship (NiSWC) season, all the way to the NiCAS Overall Championship. The title comes as no surprise as the young sim racer from Woodland Park, New Jersey has built an outstanding resume over his time on iRacing.com, and looks to further that success to a possible NiSWC Championship next season.
“This season was a great way to test the waters and gain valuable information for my teammates, Danny Hansen and Carson Downs, as they sought out for a berth in the 2013 NiSWC season. Through strong runs each and every week and great cars to get us up front, we captured the championship. The guys at JScho are excited about this championship and I couldn’t have done it without them. Hopefully, we can carry this success into the NiSWC and grab the title.” -2012 Season Four NiCAS Champion Michael Conti.
Conti not only won the overall title, he won it in dominating fashion across the stat sheet. Winning eight of his eighteen starts in top level splits, Conti Captured 2098 points, 233 more than his nearest competitor. With top fives in all but five of his starts, and leading over 25% of his 1,840 completed laps, Conti was able to control the points battle from start to finish.
Kyle Peddle and Brandon Buie filled in a top three that was decided among those three drivers for much of the season. Two new inductees to the NiSWC filled in the top five in the likes of Peter Bennett and Joey Brown. It is bittersweet news for Class A drivers finishing near the top, as Season Four is the only season that does not recruit NiCAS drivers into the NASCAR iRacing.com Pro Series (NiPS). So despite stellar seasons put in by everyone in the top ten, it is back to work next season to start the battle for Pro.
iRacing.com offers ten divisions designed to pair you with competition comparable to your skillset at the time the season begins. This allows for great point battles across the board, even if you are not yet able to sniff the top dogs.
Sascha Wesler will be moving up the ranks next season as the DE-AT-CH driver scored thirty top fives in thirty four starts, on his way to grabbing the Division Two Championship. The Australian driver Parry Anastakis scored the Division Three Title by 25 points over Andrew Williams, while Gene Benefield took home the Division Four Championship. The Division Five Title went to Carolina Club’s William Vandiver, with Sebastien Beaudry claiming the Division Six Championship. Don Norris, Christopher Shockley, Scott Dillner and Division Ten’s Jimmy Bridgland rounded out the list of 2012 Season Four NiCAS Champions.
As a new year is upon us, so is a new car, as 2013 Season One will feature the new G6 cars. Along with looking flat out awesome, the new cars will allow for drivers to choose between Chevy and Ford, adding a new look to the series. In addition to the new car, Season One will also be the first recruitment class of the 2013 Pro Series, which will serve as a feeder series into the top level NiSWC. Stay tuned to inRacingNews.com for more information regarding the release of the G6 car, and all your Season One news.
