2025 Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup | Championship Race Preview: Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans
April 11th, 2025 by Justin Melillo
This Saturday, April 12th, the 2025 Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup is set to conclude at one of the most world-renowned venues located in France. The course in Sarthe goes by many names, but in the context of the championship, there are only three names left in the fight for the title, and one of them will be crowned after the Sprint and Feature racing scheduled at Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans.
Live streaming of the events will begin on Saturday at 18:00 GMT (2PM ET) via Porsche’s channels on YouTube and Twitch with the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup All-Star series, this round competing in the Porsche 911 GT3 R. The Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup pro drivers will take off one hour afterwards, at 19:00 GMT (3PM ET).
Last Race:
A week ago, in the inaugural Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup race at Fuji Speedway, rain was in the forecast for the first time in series history. The track stayed dry for qualifying, and it was Jordan Caruso picking up his second TAG Heuer Pole Award of the season, just ahead of the driver he’s chasing for the title, Cooper Webster. In the wet and wild Sprint, Webster was able to get the better of Caruso and his teammate, Mitchell deJong, to extend his points lead. Diogo Pinto won the Feature in a race that included a drying track and racing line.
Championship Outlook:
After Fuji, only three drivers remain eligible in the fight for the title mathematically, although one of those three will need a perfect day at Le Mans to have a shot. Cooper Webster enters the title race with a 40 point lead over Jordan Caruso. Mitchell deJong sits in third, 75 points behind. Only 85 points are available to earn in the finale—Up to 10 points in qualifying, up to 25 points in the Sprint, and up to 50 points in the Feature.
Webster can make it very easy for himself, by winning the TAG Heuer Pole Award and Sprint race, guaranteeing at least a five point swing in his favor. If the swing is more than 10 points, he could be looking at celebrating a title before the Feature even starts. Of course, there are at least 25 other drivers set to be on track for the finale, which means that they aren’t racing just each other, but also the rest of some of the best sim racers in the world.
Last Season:
History does bode well for the current points leader entering Le Mans. Last year, this track sat third on the schedule of races. Webster’s teammate, Sebastian Job, started off the day with winning the TAG Heuer Pole Award as well as the Sprint race. After the invert, it was Webster in control from the start, leading every lap enroute to another Feature victory. Caruso was solid, finishing sixth in the Sprint and fourth in the Feature. As for deJong, he makes his return to the venue for the first time since 2021 where he finished sixth in the Sprint and 22nd in the Feature.
Track Facts:
The Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans measures an imposing 8.467 miles with 38 turns. Racing in the area has seen numerous evolutions since the city of Le Mans hosted its first race, the 1906 French Grand Prix, but the basics of the current circuit have been in place for roughly a century. Many of the biggest changes in that time have been reprofiling of various corners or added chicanes to slow cars down as machinery evolved. The most notable of these were added to the Mulsanne Straight, which had previously stretched for nearly four miles, in 1990.
All Stars:
As always, the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup show will be led in by the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup All-Stars, that roster of drivers including many big names such as Tony Kanaan and Casey Kirwan. Kirwan was able to lock up a third-straight All-Stars title last week at Fuji after running second to Porsche Factory Driver Ayhancan Guven in the second race.
This week’s field is set to include a few more well-known names to race, alongside the usuals such as Quirkitized and Stradi. The All-Stars will be competing this week utilizing the Porsche 963. Coverage starts at 18:00 GMT (2PM ET).
