2024-25 eNASCAR College iRacing Series | Race Preview: Michigan Int’l Speedway
November 19th, 2024 by Justin Melillo
The eNASCAR College iRacing Series presented by Playfly College Esports will conclude the Fall Semester of the 2024-25 campaign with the fourth midterm exam on Tuesday night. This week, 40 collegiate drivers qualified into the A-Main race through the official Time Attack, and will compete for their share of scholarship money and championship points at Michigan International Speedway.
The students will take on the latest challenge in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series machines, the same trucks used in the second race of the season at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. The fourth race of the season will stream live on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. ET at eNASCAR.com/live and across all of iRacing’s social media channels.
About the Series: The eNASCAR College iRacing Series presented by Playfly College Esports gives college students from the United States and Canada the opportunity to compete for their share of $60,000 in scholarships. Using machines from the NASCAR Xfinity Series or NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, 40 drivers qualify for the event by registering here and posting their fastest lap times in a two-week Time Attack through the iRacing UI. With hundreds of colleges and universities represented in each Time Attack and a limitation on the amount of qualified drivers per school, drivers are competing not only against the greater iRacing community, but also their own classmates, for a spot on the prestigious grid.
Last Race: Cal State Fullerton’s Logan Clampitt finally broke back into eNASCAR victory lane in the last College Series appearance at Kansas Speedway. Chased down by Iowa’s Steven Wilson until the end, Clampitt had to also overcome a late race restart in eNASCAR Overtime, passing Saddleback College’s John Forbes Jr on the final restart to take the victory.
Last Season: This is the 23rd race in series history, and also the third trip to the virtual Irish Hills of Michigan. The inaugural event in the Spring of 2023 was won by Logan Clampitt. Last season, it was Daniel Faulkingham taking the University of Maine at Machias back to eNASCAR victory lane for the second time during the academic year, holding off Sac State’s Dylan Ault and Clampitt as well, who finished in third.
Track Info: Breaking ground in September of 1967, and opening just over a year later, Michigan International Speedway currently exists on the NASCAR schedule as one of the fastest ovals in the United States. The 2-mile, D-shaped venue hosts both NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series events every season, as well as the ARCA Menards Series, and has welcomed many other top-level series over the past half-century.
